Arbutus (Madrone) hollow vessel

Traditional forms are like jazz standards, themes on which to create variations, and they are my favourite options for harmonizing with the natural features of wood. But  unexpected potential and/or challenge discovered within the wood can launch me  into uncharted territory with only my inner eye to guide improvisation. I bring forty years of woodturning experience to bear on each functional bowl and sculptural vessel, striving to make each one the best it can be.

GOOD NEWS!  Effective April 2021 I have been accepted by Razali May, owner and manager of Gallery 8 and Coast Gallery on Salt Spring Island, and he now has the exclusive rights to show and sell my work on the Island.  I encourage all my loyal clients and anyone just introduced to my turning to visit — COVID willing! — Razali’s galleries in Grace Point Square.  Gallery 8 is at https://www.gallery8saltspring.com/  and my work is at Coast Gallery https://www.coastgallerysaltspring.com/  under Artworks –> Woodworks.  We’re working on the photos.
